Tutor Huang,
How are you?
We are all moved by the Sichuan earthquakes.  This is a horrific yet touching tragedy.  Let's join hands and pray for China, for our President and for our Premier.  Although they are the country's leaders, they are human beings like us and have limitations as to what they can do.  May the Lord bestow grace and blessings on them!

Please pray for the leaders of China.  Pray that the Lord will grant them wisdom, compassion and perseverance to handle one disaster after another.  Pray also that God will help them have a vision and the ability to solve the many issues of afflictions.

Sister Ya-fang,
How are you?
We are all concerned about the Sichuan earthquakes and are praying for the people there.  We hope that normality will resume quickly.  The High School Examinations are approaching.  My younger brother is a Senior High Year 3 student.  Please remember him in your prayers.

After the catastrophe, people will need to get on with their lives.  Please pray for the people in China that they will have the strength to face their futures.  Pray also for those studying hard for their High School Examinations.  Pray that the Lord will help them prepare themselves properly for the exams and that they will maintain a prudent daily routine to deal with the tensions

 Dear co-workers at Alliance Radio,
 Hope you are all well.
During a church gathering, I have learned that you are appealing for 10,000 sets of hand crank short-wave radios for the earthquake disaster victims.  Your action will not only help them receive updates on earthquake news but will also provide them with the opportunity to tune in to your gospel radio.  This will be extremely beneficial to the rebuilding of their spiritual well-being and I fully support it.  I enclose my small contribution, just like the two coins offered by the widow. Although this is an insignificant donation, I hope it is of some help.  I shall remember your hard work in my prayers and will ask the Lord to give you strength to bring blessings to the 1.3 billion fellow countrymen via your gospel radio.

We thank the Lord for His grace towards Alliance Radio's ministry and for providing us with brothers and sisters who constantly support and care for us.  Please continue to pray for our appeal with regard to the radio giving.  We hope to accomplish this mission to bring glory to God and to bring blessings to the people.

Family News:

Our sincere thanks go to all brothers and sisters who have pledged short-wave radios for the victims of   China's recent earthquakes.  Your donations have given thousands of families the opportunity to tune in to our gospel radio.

2. We welcome church congregation and student fellowships to send in articles to our writing competition which is open to contributions between July and September.  The topic is: "Great Cloud of Witnesses in China".

3. We are recruiting volunteers to conduct weekend activities for the children of the rural laborers.  Those who are interested should call Mr. Wu at Tel. 2368-2606 Ext. 24 for more information.

Our target:  10,000 sets of hand crank short-wave radios.

As of June 18, 2008:  we still need donations for 6,068 sets of radio i.e. our target is short by HK$606,800.

We also encourage you to forward to us written witnesses of your recent Sichuan visits or other experiences.  For further details, please browse through our website: www.cmaradiohk.org.

Prayer Focus:
1.Pray that God will inspire us to be more compassionate towards the people in China especially after witnessing the recent Sichuan catastrophe.  Pray also that we will be more attentive to potential opportunities for our gospel ministry in China.

2. Many victims in Sichuan are experiencing the sorrows of losing their loved ones.  They need consolation and spiritual healing.  Pray that God will use gospel radio to bring them the much needed spiritual support and provide them the channels to accept Jesus Christ's redemption.

3.  As inflation continues to rise, AR is facing an imminent increase in production costs and radio station air-time charges.  Pray that God will look after us and that He will reassure our colleagues to stay committed to their ministry.

4. Alliance Radio's cumulative operational costs for January to May were HK$200,000 in the deficit.  Please remember us in your prayers and ask the Lord the touch the hearts of churches and brothers and sisters to support our gospel radio and the caring ministries in China.

Earthquake disasters

Ministry of Civil Affairs: Families who lost their children in the earthquakes have priority in adopting orphans in the quake-hit epicenter Wenchuan.

On May 17, many mothers from Gan County, Jiangxi, signed their names on a banner which displayed the words: "Children, all of us are your mom!"  Thanks to the co-ordinated efforts by the local women's associations, almost a thousand mothers came to the Gan County Public Square to show their moral support.  Most of them expressed their willingness to adopt orphans from the quake-hit areas.  In view of the severity of the earthquake disasters where families were broken and torn apart, they hoped to show their love and compassion by re-establishing a parent-child relationship with the victim students.  The Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Sichuan Provincial Government have obtained consent from the National Development Reform Committee, the Education Department and the Finance Department to formulate "Guidelines to help re-settle victims of the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan".  For those families who lost their children in the collapsed school, priority will be given to them if they want to adopt orphans of the quake-hit areas.  For children who have not been reunited with their families, the government officials are doing their best to locate their parents or relatives.  Arrangements are also in place to assign these children to well established social welfare organizations and public schools for transitional caring and boarding.

.

Please pray for the orphans of the recent earthquakes.  Pray that the Almighty will provide them with loving foster homes where they will find warmth and care to help them live on.  Prayers are also needed for those families who have lost their children.  May the Lord help them transform their sorrow to joy through raising foster children as if they were their own.  Pray for the families of the victims that they may receive God's comfort and mercy and that they may get appropriate assistance and healing. Pray for all the nationals of China that they will humble themselves after this calamity and will accept God's good news and salvation.
